Home of the Movie Stars with “Charm of Yesterday, Convenience of Tomorrow”.
El Rancho is right off the old Historic Hwy 66 and was the place to be for Movie Stars while traveling thru the area and while filming nearby.
Ronald Reagan, Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn and Kirk Douglas were among the many stars listed on the guest register.
When you walk in to the open lobby, you see the gorgeous circular staircase and heavy beams.
The second floor of the open lobby is adorned with Autographed Photos of the stars.
I saw Doris Day, Robert Mitchum, Jackie Cooper and SO many more! To be honest, I didn’t know most of them but they were quite the stars back in the day!
Each room in the hotel is named after a movie star. We stayed in Robert Taylor’s room and it was nice.
Since this is an older hotel, it had an older look.
The room had gorgeous older wooden doors including the bathroom and closet doors!
There were actually two closets and one was incredibly large!
Robert Taylor’s room also had a walk into patio that it shared with two other neighboring rooms. I’m sure that patio was very nice on warm summer evenings!
A flat screen tv was anchored to the wall and they even offered free HBO!
We dined in their famous restaurant and although was pretty average, it was nice to have at the hotel!
It was a great experience and a nice “get away” from our RV! Thanks El Rancho for having us!
